- New London's high school drop-out rate is nearly ten times the state average.
- About 63% of New London's kindergartners have a preschool experience.
- The death rate for the five leading causes of death in New London - heart disease, cancer, stroke, chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease and unintentional injury - is higher than for those same causes of death in the state of Connecticut.
- Births to teens in New London occur at twice the rate as in the state overall. New London's infant mortality rate is nearly three times that of the state.
